We’re honoured to share that PICS Fine Jewellery was featured in Gem Spectrum magazine following the September 2025 jewellery show, after being recognised as a Finalist in the Jewellery World Awards.
Following the show, Catherine Siu shared her reflections with the editorial team, offering insight into her approach to jewellery-making, the values behind PICS, and the role of craft as a way to explore individuality, freedom, and choice.
The feature highlighted Catherine’s Desire pendant-brooch, the first creation of the Desire Collection. The piece captures the tension between the comfort of safety and the yearning for freedom. Its twisted inner cage reflects a restless bird imagining the world beyond — a visual expression of unspoken dreams and inner longing.
Diamonds, the hardest natural material, form the cage bars, symbolising the rigid boundaries of reality that can restrain us. Beneath the bird, the branch transforms into a living tree limb, representing hope, daring, and the power of imagination to pierce even the hardest barriers.
By featuring the Desire pendant-brooch, Gem Spectrum offered readers a glimpse into the philosophy behind PICS — where symbolism, reflection, and craftsmanship coexist, inviting recognition of beauty in what is often overlooked, and where jewellery serves as a medium for sincerity and self-expression.
