Group Sharing Session
at NZCCHK AGM
We’re pleased to share that Catherine Siu was invited by the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (NZCCHK) to deliver a gemstone appreciation sharing session as part of their Annual General Meeting.
Held on 3 September 2025, the session welcomed members from diverse professional backgrounds. Drawing from her experience in jewellery craftsmanship and gemology, Catherine introduced participants to the fundamentals of diamond formation, the distinctions between natural and lab-grown diamonds, and practical ways to identify diamonds and common simulants.
A curated selection of loose diamonds was presented, allowing participants to observe the subtle characteristics of natural diamonds up close, and to engage in discussion through shared observation rather than technical instruction.
At PICS, we believe learning begins with looking. By starting with diamonds — the most familiar and widely perceived gemstone — the session opened the door to a broader understanding of gemstones, encouraging curiosity, discernment, and a deeper appreciation of natural creation beyond surface value.
We’re grateful to NZCCHK for the invitation and for the opportunity to be part of their AGM programme. Thank you as well to all members who took part and contributed to a thoughtful and engaging exchange.
"We appreciate because we understand.
But the more we understand, the more we know what we don't understand.
And that's why we appreciate it even more."
