At the third edition of As One; We Craft, held on 13 June 2026, a single sheet of 18K yellow gold was passed from person to person, with each participant invited to leave their own mark on its evolving form. Through this shared process, three unique pieces of jewellery emerged, each shaped by many hands and carrying its own unexpected story.
This single earring began with a small piece of gold that had been cut away from the main form.
For some of the participants who worked on the piece earlier in the day, the fragment no longer seemed to have a place in the creation and was set aside. But as the day continued, new participants encountered the piece that had been left behind. Rather than leaving it there, they picked it up and began working on it again.
What had been set aside became a new beginning.
Through the hands of those who came later, the small fragment was reshaped, refined, and gradually given a new identity. It was only towards the end of the day that its distinctive bowtie-like form emerged.
Its story is a quiet reminder that value is not always immediately visible. What one person sees as an ending may be the beginning of something else. What appears to be a leftover fragment may simply be waiting for another perspective, another pair of hands, or another opportunity to become something new.
This is at the heart of As One; We Craft. The participants did not begin with a blank sheet, nor did they know what the final pieces would become. Each person inherited something from those who came before — sometimes a developing form, sometimes a changed surface, and in this case, even a piece that had been set aside.
Instead of deciding what the fragment could no longer be, the later participants gave it another chance to become something else. And so, it became a bowtie.
Its final form emerged not from a predetermined design, but from a willingness to look again and see possibility where others had stopped. The piece carries a quiet sense of character and balance — an unexpected outcome born from a fragment that might otherwise have remained unnoticed.
The earring therefore tells a different story from the other two creations. The Bullet of Love speaks of love given direction. The Leaf of Love speaks of love finding a way to grow. This piece speaks of seeing possibility in what has been overlooked.
More than a single earring, it is a reminder that value and possibility are not always defined by the first person who encounters them. Something may be set aside by one person, only to become meaningful in the hands of another.
Sometimes, all it takes is for someone else to pick it up and see it differently.
Set aside by some. Rediscovered by others. Transformed by many.
